SCENES FROM THE DIVIDE

The Jewish Fight Over Zohran Mamdani
Documentary Short | 32 min | Jewish Currents
Director | Producer | Cinematographer

In the lead-up to Zohran Mamdani’s election as mayor of New York City, questions about Israel, Palestine, antisemitism, and Jewish safety become flashpoints in a much broader debate. SCENES FROM THE DIVIDE moves beyond the headlines and into the homes of Jewish New Yorkers who find themselves deeply divided, not only over an election, but over what it means to be Jewish in America today. Intimate, searching, and urgent, the film follows a community wrestling with different understandings of history, solidarity, responsibility, and belonging. What emerges is more than a political argument. It is a portrait of American Jewish life undergoing enormous change, and of people struggling to remain in relationship across an increasingly painful divide.
